Tips for improving your circulation and energy flow

Winston Sih | posted Monday, Oct 7th, 2013

Spending time sitting in an office chair or driving in your car can create stagnant circulation and bloating in your legs. This can be even more prominent for pregnant women, and it affects more than 50 per cent of men and women over the age of 50.  Alternative health expert Bryce Wylde stopped by to share his tips for improving circulation and energy flow.

  1. Wear compression socks to promote blood circulation back to the heart.  These socks will prevent blood from pooling in the veins in your legs, and Wylde says this is something that can be easily warn while flying or driving.
  2. A lymphatic brush can boost blood flow in the peripheries.  Simply brush in an upwards direction and towards the heart.
  3. A leg massager will improve circulation and compression in your legs and ankles.  They can be purchased for approximately $500, and the vibrating motions will move blood back up your legs to reduce swelling–perfect for pregnant women.
  4. If you’re laying down at home, a few pillows to elevate your legs will encourage blood flow back towards the heart.
  5. Lastly, a topical cream like Delivra from LivRelief is an excellent, safe product to tighten and prevent visible varicose veins (also known as spider veins) often visible in the leg area.

What other tips do you have to improve circulation and energy flow in the peripheries? Feel free to share them in the comments below.

'Bollywood Star' judges Anita Majumdar, Rupinder Nagra and Richie Mehta. ROGERS MEDIA.

Hundreds of hopefuls will line up Saturday for a chance to win the prize of a lifetime–a part in a Bollywood movie, and a chance at becoming the next big Bollywood star.

Bollywood Star, to air on OMNI Television next spring, is a talent search and four-part original docu-reality series that will bring six selected contestants to Mumbai to compete for a role in a Bollywood film.  Bollywood Boulevard host Veronica Chail stopped by Breakfast Television Friday morning to talk about the competition.

“[The judges] are looking for someone who’s just going to give them goosebumps on their face,” Chail said.  “Just have fun, and bring you best foot forward!”

Once contestants have been selected to go to India, they will participate in a “Bollywood boot camp.” It will all come down to one final audition in front of a Bollywood director who will crown Canada’s first Bollywood star.

Dozens showed up to the Vancouver auditions last week to prove their talent to the Canadian judging panel of filmmaker Richie Mehta and actors Anita Majumdar and Rupinder Nagra.   Auditions will be held in Toronto this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre.

Jimmy Kimmel admits twerking-turned-girl-on-fire viral video is a hoax

Winston Sih | posted Tuesday, Sep 10th, 2013

In a viral video that caught the attention of international media, the video of a girl twerking on a door that had her fall over on top of a coffee table and candles catching her pants on fire turned out to be a hoax, comedian Jimmy Kimmel said on his late-night talk show Monday.

“We didn’t send it to any TV station, we didn’t tweet it,” Kimmel said. “We just put it on YouTube and let the magic happen.”

It was a social experiment set up after Miley Cyrus’ buzz-worthy VMA performance, and Kimmel admits it was made to “end twerking forever.”

Last week, Breakfast Television aired the original clip where Kevin Frankish suspected it to be fake.

The viral video is nearing 10 million views on YouTube.

What do you think? Were you surprised by the hoax? Vote in our poll below!

Canada’s Wonderland unveiled their newest attraction to Breakfast Television viewers first, this morning.

Wonder Mountain's Guardian

The new ride, named the Wonder Mountain’s Guardian, will be a thrilling interactive 4-D dark ride, and will be unveiled at the Vaughan, Ont. amusement park next May.

“We felt the timing was right to enter the massive caverns of Wonder Mountain and provide our guests with a new dimension of thrills,” said general manager Norm Pirtovshek.

The Canadian-built ride climbs the side of the mountain where it plummets into the landmark, taking riders through five different layers of stunning special effects.

Wonder Mountain’s Guardian will navigate on over 1,000 feet of coaster track through a desolate forest, underground lake, culminating in the dragon’s lair for a heart-stopping finale that will shock you to the core–literally.

“Thrill-seekers from all generations will be amazed by the combination of unique ride thrills and immersive 4-D interactive action as they compete for ride supremacy,” Pirtovshek said.

The ride is built by Montreal-based TRIOTECH.

Nine out of 10 people are being deprived of their sleep because of smartphones in the bedroom, a UK survey has found.

Out of two thousand people surveyed, over half reported surfing the web while in bed trying to sleep; one in five admitted to checking social media and emails; and a low one in 10 said their quality of sleep was good.

Kevin Frankish tweeted asking for your pictures of #SocialInsomnia.  Watch the segment and tell us whether technology in the bedroom is depriving you of quality sleep in the comments below.
