Hundreds of hopefuls will line up Saturday for a chance to win the prize of a lifetime–a part in a Bollywood movie, and a chance at becoming the next big Bollywood star.
Bollywood Star, to air on OMNI Television next spring, is a talent search and four-part original docu-reality series that will bring six selected contestants to Mumbai to compete for a role in a Bollywood film. Bollywood Boulevard host Veronica Chail stopped by Breakfast Television Friday morning to talk about the competition.
“[The judges] are looking for someone who’s just going to give them goosebumps on their face,” Chail said. “Just have fun, and bring you best foot forward!”
Once contestants have been selected to go to India, they will participate in a “Bollywood boot camp.” It will all come down to one final audition in front of a Bollywood director who will crown Canada’s first Bollywood star.
Dozens showed up to the Vancouver auditions last week to prove their talent to the Canadian judging panel of filmmaker Richie Mehta and actors Anita Majumdar and Rupinder Nagra. Auditions will be held in Toronto this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Toronto Congress Centre.

It can be quite intimidating to keep a raw food pantry stocked–especially when you’re first starting out. Meghan Pearson stopped by to share her favourite raw food pantry essentials.
Apple cider vinegar: It is raw and unpasteurized, and packs a punch of health benefits. Pearson recommends taking it with water first thing in the morning, similar to lemon water, and it is alkalizing and soft on the body.
Organic hemp protein: This is a non-gritty product that can be added to protein shakes and smoothies–an easy way to get the required amount of daily protein.
Chia seeds: You can get them in whole and sliced varieties, and is perfect for incorporating into raw puddings. Pearson says the sliced variety makes it more bio-available and is an excellent superfood.
Raw cacao nibs: You can use these interchangeably with chocolate chips, Pearson says. Simply add them to your favourite raw snacks and desserts.
Coconut oil: You can use it virtually anywhere from hair to skin to food!
Lucuma powder: This all-natural ingredient is a Peruvian fruit that’s ground up into a powder. It acts as a natural sweetener, but is low on the glycemic index.
Almonds: A versatile ingredient in the kitchen, and high in vitamin E. Pearson warns to make sure they come in their rawest form.
Nutritional yeast: A perfect item to have on hand for flavouring. It is a raw yeast that acts similarly to cheese.

In a viral video that caught the attention of international media, the video of a girl twerking on a door that had her fall over on top of a coffee table and candles catching her pants on fire turned out to be a hoax, comedian Jimmy Kimmel said on his late-night talk show Monday.
“We didn’t send it to any TV station, we didn’t tweet it,” Kimmel said. “We just put it on YouTube and let the magic happen.”
It was a social experiment set up after Miley Cyrus’ buzz-worthy VMA performance, and Kimmel admits it was made to “end twerking forever.”
Last week, Breakfast Television aired the original clip where Kevin Frankish suspected it to be fake.
The viral video is nearing 10 million views on YouTube.
What do you think? Were you surprised by the hoax? Vote in our poll below!
