Lady Gaga talks price of fame, new album in Toronto

BT Toronto | posted Tuesday, Nov 19th, 2013

Lady Gaga was in Toronto on Monday to promote her third studio album ARTPOP and while she noted fame has its costs, they’re worth it.

“There are days where it’s more challenging to go out and be alone and have just sort of a quiet night with my family or my friends, but those are the sacrifices you make when you’re a performer,” Gaga told City.

“I just roll with the punches. It’s life.”

The first album single called Applause, focuses on the attention she has received in the five years since her debut album was released. In the song, Lady Gaga sings that she lives for the applause and attention.

ARTPOP is really a celebration of…surviving for the past five years. I never changed who I was or when people wanted me to change, I just kept being me. And here we are,” she said.

Lady Gaga signed autographs and met with fans at a private event on Monday night and was later presented with a plaque celebrating ARTPOP’s success. The album was certified platinum in Canada after selling 80,000.
