Must-know April Fools prank etiquette

Carina Kresic | posted Friday, Apr 1st, 2016

It’s April 1st, which means it’s the one day of the year where playing pranks and jokes on our friends are acceptable. However, how far is too far when it comes to April Fools pranks?

Here are some prank etiquette tips you should follow:

  1.  Nobody gets hurt: We all know the saying, “It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurts.” April Fools should be no exception.
    noone gets hurt
  2. Don’t embarrass anyone you don’t know well enough: April Fools is all about having fun and keeping it playful. Just be careful when you involve people you may not know that well.
  3. No serious lies: Try not to make up a huge lie that would likely give your friends and family a heart attack. Like, “We are moving across the country!”
    trust no one
  4.  Be cautious with your little kids:  Kids are kids, and they believe pretty much anything you tell them. So be careful with what you do.
  5. Always own up to being the culprit: Have all the fun you want while it’s happening, but once the joke is over, it’s time to reveal yourself.
    be hoenst
  6. Check back: Hopefully you have successfully completed your prank, and you followed the above steps. Now it’s time you check back with those affected. Who knows how they would have taken it. Make sure no one got hurt and that will eventually forgive you.
