Officer hurt, two cruisers damaged, truck on fire, in wild Burlington police chase

CityNews | posted Wednesday, Apr 19th, 2017

A Halton police officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a wild chase in Burlington.

Police say they tried to stop a Chevrolet pick-up truck at Walkers Line and Mainway just before midnight on Tuesday.

The driver allegedly refused to stop and continued onto the eastbound QEW. Police chased the truck, but called it off when the pursuit hit 140 km/h.

Two police cruisers crashed during the chase, sending one officer to hospital.

The pickup truck was later seen on fire in south Burlington. The suspects fled. Police believe they then stole a blue 2002 GMC Savannah van with the license plate AVZC 492.

Police are looking for three suspects, who were last seen heading west on Highway 403 in Hamilton.
