The driver of a double-decker tourist bus is in hospital after she was injured in a downtown crash.

The crash happened at Sherbourne and Gerrard streets just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the bus collided with a car, mounted the curb and struck a pole, bringing some hydro wires down.

The bus driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition has been upgraded to serious but not life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

It’s unclear what led to the crash or if any charges will be laid.

Sherbourne remains closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets while police investigate.
