Dalia Yegavian | posted Monday, May 13th, 2019

Doris Day has been pronounced dead at the age of 97 due to pneumonia-related complications. The artist passed away early Monday morning in her home located at Caramel Valley, California. She was said to have been surrounded by her loved ones.

Appearing in films such as Pillow Talk (1959) and The Glass Bottom Boat (1966), Day was known as an icon from the Classical Hollywood film era. Oscar nominee, Day has left a mark on the film industry.

Aside from film, Day was an active member of the animal rights community. She had a warm heart and often devoted her time to charitable organizations. Day was specifically passionate about animal welfare and created the Doris Day Animal Foundation – which aims to aid the overpopulation of pets in the U.S.

The announcement of Day’s death was delivered first by the Doris Day Animal Foundation, of which she worked extremely close with.
