75-year-old Florida man fights alligator to save dog

A 75-year-old man in Palm Harbor, Flordia claims he kicked an alligator in his nose after it tried to attack his dog.

Buddy Ackerman says the 8-foot long gator crept out of a pond near his condominium and grabbed his dog Osi while they were out for their morning walk.

He gave the gator a swift kick in the nose until it let go of his golden retriever.

“He was squealing a good bit when the thing grabbed him,” Ackerman said. “Me, I’m a nervous wreck, I go up and slip and fall on my rear end, and the two of us are tugging. Alligator is going one way, I’m going the other.” Ackerman told ABC News.

No party in the incident was injured.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Florida wildlife officials came and trapped the gator later that day.
