International Coming Out Day

Kyle Mack | posted Friday, Oct 11th, 2019

Today is International Coming Out Day. To aid those struggling with their identity or in need of immediate assistance or guidance, we have put together a cohesive list of local LGBTQ2SA+ resources for those in need.

The act of coming out is seeing a swift de-stigmatization. With the awareness and social acceptance seen on social media, LGBTQ2SA+ individuals are feeling confident to embrace their true selves and to share this with the world.

With this said, we cannot discount the difficulties faced by LGBTQ2SA+ individuals around the globe. People are being harmed for being themselves. People are being encouraged to shroud their colours and shift into heteronormative assimilation. This is why coming out day is important. The awareness and support alone is enough to give someone the strength to make the decision to be their true selves.

The below list showcases Toronto organizations aimed to provide aid to those in need.

The 519

Intersex Society of North America (ISNA)

Kulanu Toronto is a Jewish LGBTQ social group,

Rainbow Health Ontario

Planned Parenthood

Rainbow Railroad

Refugee Support Group
