79 new coronavirus cases reported in Ontario, 2 new deaths
Ontario confirmed 79 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday – the seventh day in a row that the number is below 100. Yesterday, the government reported 70 new cases.
Two new deaths were reported for a total of 2,786.
The province now has 40,046 confirmed cases, with 36,279 considered resolved.
The number of hospitalized patients went up slightly from 53 to 55. Those in ICU decreased by one, from 27 to 26 with 12 people on ventilators.
The health minister says 30 out of 34 of the province’s public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with 18 reporting no new cases.
The province processed 28,000 tests over the last 24 hours.
It’s official: for a full week, Ontario has now reported fewer than 100 cases, with 79 cases of #COVID19 today, a 0.2% increase. There are 148 more resolved as the persistent decline in active cases continues. Yesterday, the province processed nearly 28,000 tests.
